BGB to ensure calm, secure polls

BGB is conducting election patrols across the country to maintain law and order ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) remains on alert nationwide alongside other security forces to ensure calm, secure elections, prevent violence and maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, Director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, visited BGB election base camps on Sunday in Chattogram-6 and Chattogram-2 to monitor the overall law and order and security situation ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

The BGB director general visited the election base camp set up at Raozan Salamat Ullah High School under Chattogram-6 and the base camp at Fatikchhari Technical School and College under Chattogram-2 on 8 February, 2026.

During the visit, he exchanged views with BGB members deployed on election duty and provided instructions on performing responsibilities with professionalism, dedication and neutrality.

Later, the BGB director general held meetings with relevant officials from the local army, police and civil administration in Chattogram.

He said, “Border Guard Bangladesh is a professional, disciplined and politically neutral force, fully prepared to perform all duties assigned in connection with the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.”

Meanwhile, as part of monitoring the overall law and order and security situation to ensure that the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is conducted in a free, fair, neutral, and peaceful manner, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, visited the BGB election payee camps in Shyamnagar of Satkhira and Damurhuda of Chuadanga.

During the visit, he held important coordination meetings with the local civil administration and representatives of various law enforcement agencies and organizations.

He added that BGB would work in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure voters can exercise their franchise in a safe, peaceful and fear-free environment.

Senior BGB headquarters officials, along with the BGB Chattogram region commander and other officials, were present during the visit.
