DSHE warns of legal action over fake Facebook pages, groups

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has warned that legal action will be taken against individuals operating unauthorised Facebook pages and groups using the directorate’s name, logo and official identity.

The authorities have given the operators seven days to shut down the unauthorised pages and groups, according to a warning notice issued by the DSHE on Sunday.

The notice said various individuals had been using the DSHE’s name, identity, logo or emblem to operate unauthorised Facebook pages and groups.

According to the directorate, misleading information about official matters, along with obscene, defamatory and anti-state statements, was being published through those platforms. Such activities were creating confusion among teachers, officials and members of the public and tarnishing the image of the DSHE, the notice said.
