‘BRCS should play role in making Ctg healthy city’

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has called on the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) to play a more effective role in making Chattogram a healthy and humane city.
He said that the experience and capacity of the Red Crescent in humanitarian services, health awareness and disaster management are very important for Chattogram.
The mayor said this while exchanging views with a delegation led by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Chairman Dr. Halida Hanum at the CCC office in Tiger Pass on Tuesday. Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said that inspired by the ideals of humanitarian services, the members of the Red Crescent have always stood by the endangered and helpless people of the society. The contribution of the Red Crescent in disaster relief, healthcare, blood donation, first aid and voluntary activities is commendable.
The mayor said that Chattogram is a densely populated metropolis. Here, the joint efforts of all voluntary and social organizations, including the City Corporation, the Red Crescent, and other organizations, are essential to address health risks, disasters, and humanitarian challenges.
During the exchange of views, Red Crescent Chairman Dr. Halida Hanum said that it is possible to further expand healthcare and humanitarian activities through coordination with the CCC. Present at the event were Red Crescent Chattogram City Unit Vice Chairman M. A. Salam, Deputy Secretary Major (Retd.) Reza Ahmed, CDA Board Member Zahidul Karim Kochi, Chattogram City Unit General Secretary Golam Baki Masud, and Dr. S. M. Sarwar Alam.
