DUET hosts Annual Sports Competition

The 12th Annual Sports Competition 2026 of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) was held on Thursday, amid a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere on the university’s lush green campus.

The event was inaugurated in the morning by the chief patron, DUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Joynal Abedin, who released balloons and pigeons into the sky. Also present as patron was Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Arefin Kaosar. Special guest Director (Students’ Welfare) Professor Dr. Utpal Kumar Das attended, while Director (Physical Education Centre) Professor Dr. Kazi Rafikul Islam served as field manager, says a press release.

The national flag, university flag, Olympic flag, and hall flags were hoisted amid fanfare. Throughout the day, various events saw enthusiastic participation from senior faculty, students, teachers, staff, employees, and even campus children.

Deans of all faculties, heads of departments, directors, provosts, controller of examinations, office heads, along with teachers, students, officers, and staff were present.

The competition concluded with prizes awarded to winners in 35 events by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Joynal Abedin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Arefin Kaosar, and other dignitaries.

Director (Physical Education Centre) Professor Dr. Kazi Rafikul Islam extended thanks to all involved for the smooth conduct of the event. It was compered by Assistant Professor Kazi Abu Manzur from the Civil Engineering Department and Lecturer Nuruzzaman from the Chemical Engineering Department.
