BNP synonymous with country’s dev: Salahuddin
Staff Reporter :
BNP National Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Friday said Bangladesh’s stifled democracy has been freed and the people have regained ownership of the state.
He said that to give democracy a stronger foundation, everyone must freely and independently exercise their voting rights in a free environment on February 12. He stressed that arrangements must be made so that fascism can never return to the country. If undemocratic forces rise again, he warned, everyone will face the same fate.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that BNP has fought throughout its existence to establish the people’s voting rights. In line with the commitment of the martyrs, the aspirations of students and the masses, and the expectations of all the people of the country, BNP is committed to building a strong democratic Bangladesh.
He made these remarks at an election roadside rally held at Surajpur–Manikpur Union in Chakaria upazila at 11:00am on Friday. He said that the declaration of Bangladesh’s independence was made by martyred Ziaur Rahman, BNP carried out the country’s development, and BNP safeguarded independence. BNP, he said, is synonymous with the country’s development, progress and prosperity.
Therefore, to move Bangladesh’s development, progress and prosperity forward, people must vote for the BNP by casting their ballots for the sheaf of paddy in the February 12 election and ensure the party’s victory.
Meanwhile, speaking at an election rally held in the Baraitali Union of Chakaria in the afternoon, Salahuddin Ahmed said that those who talk only about heaven instead of presenting plans for the country are destroying people’s faith.
He said the Awami League was once a political party but has now become a mafia party and has established itself as a force against Bangladesh. If the poor are well, Bangladesh will be well, he said. If farmers’ backbone is strengthened, the backbone of the nation will be strengthened.
Among those present at the event were Cox’s Bazar district BNP General Secretary Advocate Shamim Ara Swapna, Chakaria upazila BNP President Enamul Haque, General Secretary M Mobarak Ali, along with numerous party leaders and activists.
