71.8pc growth of remittance inflow till Jan 13

Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 71.8 percent reaching US$1,591 million in the first 13 days of January, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued on Wednesday.

Last year, during the same period, the country’s remittance inflow was $926 million.

During the July to Jan 14, 2026 of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances of $17,856 million, which was $14,703 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Likewise, from July to December in the current 2025-26 fiscal year, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $16.26 billion remittances against $13.78 billion for the same period of the previous fiscal.
