Entertainment Report :

Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alishan Chowdhury have been released on bail in a case filed against them for allegedly extorting Tk 2.7 million from a business partner by promising to make them partners in the business.

Dhaka Executive Magistrate Md Adnan Zulfikar issued the order to release Mehazabien and Alishan after a hearing on Monday morning.

Actress Mehazabien and her brother Alishan arrived at the court around 10:00am yesterday. They entered the courtroom around 11:00am.

Meanwhile, during the hearing of the case filed on charges of threats and intimidation, the actress told the court that she has never seen or known the plaintiff in the case. There is no question of threatening him.

She said that the address of the plaintiff in this case is fake, the mobile number is also 12 digits.

The lawyer also said that she is an actress. She does not know this plaintiff, he has no acquaintance with her.

Therefore, there is no question of threatening her. There may be a plan to tarnish her reputation.

That is why this case has been filed. Mehazabien’s lawyer, Tuhin Hawlader, presented the blue response paper before the judge.

Lawyer Raihan Gazi, representing plaintiff Amirul, said, “The defendants were not present on the scheduled date, so a warrant was issued against them. We did not receive a response.

This defendant took money from the plaintiff in the case. Later, she threatened him when he asked for the money back.”

At that time, the judge asked the plaintiff, “Who threatened you?” The plaintiff said, “They threatened me in the Hatirjheel area.”

Then the judge asked, “Did Mehazabien threaten you?” The plaintiff said, “No, her brother threatened me.

He threatened me through various strangers.” When asked by the judge, Mehazabien said, “We have never seen him (the plaintiff). We do not know him. We have never spoken to him.

The plaintiff has not been able to provide any evidence. There is no evidence whatsoever regarding the alleged receipt of Tk 2.7 million through bkash-Nagad.”

At that time, the judge said, “This case is not about Tk 2.7 million. This is a case of threats.

The issue here is whether you threatened him or not.” Then Mehazabien and her brother shook their heads and said, “No.”

The judge asked, “Will you make any more threats in the future?”

Then the actress said, “There is no question of making threats.” The judge later acquitted them from the case.
