CA for setting up energy master plan

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus presided over a high-level meeting at Jamuna State Guest House on the “Energy and Power Sector Master Plan 2026-2050.”
The session focused on harnessing domestic resources, ensuring fuel security, boosting efficiency, and upholding environmental responsibility to deliver reliable, affordable, and sustainable primary fuel and electricity for all citizens.
Key attendees included Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fazlul Kabir Khan; Finance Adviser Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed; Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud; Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin; Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan; Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan; Power Division Secretary Farzana Mamtaz; BIDA Executive Chairman Ashek Chowdhury; Finance Secretary Dr. M. Khairuzzaman Majumdar; and Principal Adviser’s Special Assistant for Posts, Telecommunications and IT Fayez Ahmed Taieb. Also present were senior officials from relevant ministries and agencies, along with BPDB Chairman Major General SM Zia-ul-Azim (Retd.), AFWC, PSC.
The meeting reviewed gaps in the previous three master plans and outlined the new plan’s three-phase rollout: 2026-2030, 2030-2040, and 2040-2050.
Discussions covered power generation, transmission, distribution, environmental and economic sustainability, and institutional reforms. Recommendations aimed to make the primary energy sector safer, more efficient, less import-dependent, and financially viable by 2050.
Chief Adviser thanked participants for their detailed inputs on the power and fuel sectors, stating: “This is the life of Bangladesh’s economy. Its success will stabilize our economy and impact every citizen’s life.” He directed the creation of a dedicated research institution for energy and power studies.
