‘Free healthcare makes society more humane’
Providing free medical treatment to underprivileged people is a noble initiative that will make healthcare more accessible and society more humane, said Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RPMP) Commissioner Md Abdul Mabud.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of a free hernia and hydrocele surgery programme at Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.
The programme was presided over by Nazmul Ahsan Sarkar, Managing Director of Rangpur Group. Speaking at the event, the RPMP Commissioner praised the hospital authorities for their humanitarian initiative.
He said such programmes are highly timely in making healthcare services more accessible to low- and middle-income people. He added that the initiative, driven by a humanitarian spirit, would become a source of hope for poor and underprivileged patients.
Speakers at the programme said Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital has been implementing various public welfare initiatives to ensure quality, affordable, and compassionate healthcare services. They noted that the free hernia and hydrocele surgery programme would play an important role in expanding access to treatment for disadvantaged people.
In his presidential address, Nazmul Ahsan Sarkar said that, alongside providing medical services, Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital remains committed to carrying out public welfare activities as part of its social responsibility. He added that the hospital would continue to undertake similar initiatives for the benefit of the public in the future.
The event was attended by members of the Board of Directors of Rangpur Group, the hospital’s director, senior officials, physicians, departmental officials, and invited guests.
