Rajshahi public library arranges readers’ meet

He said this at a gathering of readers organised by Department of Public Libraries here today under the nationwide Mobile Library Project of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs with the cooperation of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro.

Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam was in the chair while Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Billal Hossain Khan and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir were present as special guests on the occasion held at the Rajshahi Divisional Government Public Library. Director of the Department of Public Libraries Dr. Sanjeev Sutradhar gave welcome address.

Bazlur Rashid said that parents must regularly keep watch where their children are going, what they are doing and how they are spending their time.

Instead of unnecessary gossip in the evening, they should be engaged in libraries, sports, cultural and creative activities, he observed.

Officials and employees of government and private offices, cultural personalities, parents, students and dignitaries and journalists were present.

After the discussion prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions.

The programme was inaugurated by releasing balloons and festoons, and a colorful rally was also brought out in the city.

The programme of the day concluded with a colourful cultural performance.
