Send children to play to protect their health: Mayor Dr. Shahadat

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has called on parents and educational institutions to play a role in the psycho-physical development of children, including participation in sports.
The mayor made the call as the chief guest at the three-day (December 17, 18 and 19) annual sports competition and award distribution ceremony of Presidency International School at the city’s Bandar Stadium on Saturday.
The mayor said that parents and educational institutions need to play a role in the psycho-physical development of children, including participation in sports, along with studies.
The City Corporation has already taken the initiative to build 41 playgrounds in 41 wards of the city.
As part of this, various fields including Mohsin College Ground, Baklia School Ground, Bahurupi Ground, Akbar Shahte Ferozshah Ground, Jamburi Ground adjacent to Agrabad Shishu Park, Halishahar BDR Ground are being transformed as part of this initiative.

It is not possible to build a healthy mind and body without playing sports along with studies. “Sound Mind in a Sound Body”-the initiative to increase playgrounds in the city will continue to implement this philosophy.
In the last 16 years, one of the biggest problems of society is the teenage gang culture. Increasing the opportunities for youth to play sports will make it easier for them to move on the right path.’
He said, ‘Healthy body, healthy mind’ – this is an eternal truth for our lives. Without physical fitness, it is impossible to maintain mental fitness, which directly affects concentration in studies.
The chief guest highly praised the overall educational programs of Presidency International School and the various programs taken for the physical and mental development of students.
He also said that there is no alternative to developing students as citizens with honesty, morality and patriotism to build a corruption-free Bangladesh.
He expressed his hope that today’s students will play an important role in implementing the dream of a united Bangladesh that the current generation has shown through the sacrifice of the students in the mass uprising of 24.
In the month of victory, he remembered with deep respect one of the brave soldiers of the great war of independence, martyr President Ziaur Rahman and his fellow soldier, another fearless hero of the war of independence, former principal of Presidency International School, late Lt. Col. (Retd.) Mohammad Ziauddin Ahmed; Bir Uttam and all the freedom fighters.
Presidency Education Rector Dr. Imam Hasan Reza presided over the spontaneous participation of guardians, teachers, officials and employees in the competition made the event more lively.
Among others, the Chairman of the School Board of Directors, Ashraful Haque Khan Swapan, Member Secretary, Mr. Md. Golzar Alam (Alamgir), other members of the School Board of Directors, and Vice Principals were present at the event.
