Mintu’s programmes halted

Upazila BNP and Jubo Dal have suspended all the programmes of party Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu, the candidate for the sheaf of paddy of Feni-03 constituency, in Sonagazi, Feni and have arranged special prayers and supplications for the early recovery of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

After the prayers and supplications, Abdul Awal Mintu was scheduled to return to Dhaka considering Begum Khaleda Zia’s physical condition.

Upazila BNP convener Joynal Abdin Bablu said that although there was a campaign programme in his presence today in support of the pre-scheduled sheaf of paddy candidate Abdul Awal Mintu, considering the condition of the party chairperson, all party work schedules for Saturday have been suspended on the advice of Mintu immediately.

After the Zuhr prayers on Saturday, a special prayer was organised at the Sonagazi Big Mosque in the presence of Abdul Awal Mintu, party leaders and activists, and the general public.

Sonagazi Upazila Jubo Dal convener Khurshid Alam Bhuyan said that considering the situation of the motherland, Mintu has suspended all types of election campaigning and has asked to organise prayers at the Big Mosque in Sonagazi Municipality.

Abdul Awal Mintu said, “We seek prayers from everyone, regardless of party affiliation, for our beloved leader. She is not only a symbol of our party, but also a symbol of the love and trust of the people of the country.

Therefore, we have announced the suspension of all types of party programs in order to organize her prayers.”
