Dhallywood: Ador-Bubly’s new film ‘Dhakaiya Devdas’

A new movie titled ‘Dhakaiya Devdas’ is being made in the context of the people, society and culture of old Dhaka.
It will be made by Zahid Hossain. Ador Azad and Shobnom Bubly will play the two main characters. The official journey of the movie ‘Dhakaiya Devdas’ began on Friday with a mahurat ceremony at a club in the capital.
The director informed that ‘Dhakaiya Devdas’ is basically a love story. The traditions of Old Dhaka will be presented in the story of two people.
Director Zahid Hossain said, “This is a love story. This story will be presented in the mix of our centuries-old traditions of Old Dhaka.
Old Dhaka is a place where there is a mix of different religions, races, and cultures. Everyone celebrates Sakrain, Eid, Muharram, and New Year together.
There are many other cultures that many of the current generation do not know. These cultures will also emerge through the story of two people.”
Regarding the title ‘Dhakaiya Devdas’, Zahid Hossain also said, “The title ‘Devdas’ has been used metaphorically.
Those who fail in love, think of themselves as Devdas. In the story of this movie too, the hero starts thinking of himself as such after failing in love. That is why the movie has been named ‘Dhakaiya Devdas.’”
The director said that the shooting of the movie ‘Dhakaiya Devdas’ will begin during the Sakrain Festival in January. He wants to shoot in real locations during the festival to accurately portray the traditions of old Dhaka on screen.
Apart from Ador and Bubly, Tariq Anam Khan, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rashed Mamun Apu and others will also act in the movie, which is produced and presented by Excel Films and Revolution Movies International.
‘Dhakaiya Devdas’ is the fourth film of the Ador and Bubly duo. Ador Azad and Shobnom Bubly started their journey on the big screen as a pair with Saikat Nasir’s ‘Talash’.
The film was released in 2022. Their second film ‘Local’ was released in 2023. It was directed by Saif Chandan.
Last year, they acted in Zahid Jewel’s ‘Pink’. Although there was talk of the film being released on Eid this year, it didn’t happen. The film awaiting to release.
