Bellingham says he will undergo shoulder surgery

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham confirmed on Sunday that he will undergo surgery on a long-term shoulder problem after the Club World Cup.
The England international has been suffering from pain since November 2023, when he dislocated his shoulder during a La Liga match. Since then, he has played with a brace hidden under his shirt.
With Real Madrid focused on winning the Club World Cup, the operation is scheduled for after the final – meaning Bellingham could miss the start of the new La Liga season while he recovers.
“I got to the point where I was tired of that hold, with its pulls and with other players catching me there, adjusting it all the time,” Bellingham told DAZN after Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Pachuca in Charlotte.
“I have an operation scheduled after the tournament, I think a few days after the final, and I’m going to go have it done to fix my shoulder.”
“I’m so happy about this, I’ve been waiting for it for a long time. I’ve lost my patience with the brace.”
“The physiotherapist and doctor here have been incredible, they’ve helped me play consistently, but now I’m at the point where I want to have my shoulder free and my body free from that brace.”
According to reports, recovery from surgery could take up to 12 weeks, meaning that in addition to the first few La Liga games, Bellingham could also miss England’s World Cup qualifiers in September against Andorra and Serbia.
