Premier Football League kicks-off today: Holders Sheikh Jamal DC to play Farashganj SC in opener

The Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League kicks-off today (Tuesday) at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka with holders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club playing Farashganj Sporting Club in the opening match, scheduled to kick off at 5pm.
Eleven leading football clubs of the country will compete in the home and away basis league, sponsored by Indian fashion chain “Manyavar”.
On the eve of the league, Sheikh Jamal skipper Nasiruddin Chowdhury said it is tough to defend the title rather than winning it.
“We are ready to defend the title, playing as the champions it adds some pressure on you, its difficult to keep the momentum,” said Nasiruddin.
Captain of Farashganj SC Shujon Chowdhury said, “We have nothing to lose, we are not afraid of Sheikh Jamal, and we are ready to face the challenge.”
Earlier, the league committee made an announcement that they will give Tk 25 lakh to all the eleven participting teams as appearance money.
