Dhaka Pioneer Football League begins today

The Dhaka North and South City Corporation Pioneer (Under-16) Football League will be inaugurated today (Tuesday) at the Outer Stadium in the capital.
LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam will inaugurate the 25th version of the country’s biggest soccer league on Tuesday afternoon after a colourful rally.
Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, who is also the chairman of the Pioneer Football League Committee, will be present on the occasion.
Tangail Football Academy will play Football Supporters Forum in an exhibition match marking the opening ceremony.
However, the league matches will start on Friday (March 6) at the Outer Stadium with Hasnabad SC playing Madarbari Shovania Club of Chittagong at 2 pm while Jurain Football Academy will meet Lutfar Rahman Football Academy at 3:35 pm.
A total of 59 teams, split into ten groups, will initially compete in the first phase of the league at five city venues.
The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Vice President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Chairman of the Pioneer Football League Committee, Arif Khan Joy, disclosed the details at a press conference at the BFF House on Monday.
Deputy Chairman of the Pioneer Football League Committee and BFF member Bijon Barua, Khondakar Millatul Islam of Dhaka (South) City Corporation, Abdul Hai of Dhaka (North) City Corporation, Assistant General Manager of the league co-sponsor BRAC Enterprise (Aarong Dairy) HUM Mehdi Sajjad and BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag also spoke on the occasion.
All the participating teams will get appearance money of Tk 10,000 each.
