In the turbulent waters of the 1971 Liberation War, Bengali freedom-fighters pulled off a daring guerrilla heist, shattering the Pakistani supply lines in a single night. Named ‘Operation Jackpot’, their audacious
mission sank 26 ships laden with arms, food,
and oil, crippling the enemy’s war effort.
The epic saga of ‘Operation Jackpot’ is now set to be immortalised on the silver screen. The Ministry
of Liberation War Affairs has announced the
production of the movie titled ‘Operation Jackpot’, promising to bring this defining chapter of Bangladeshi history to life for audiences worldwide.
This cinematic masterpiece, directed by Delwar Jahan Jhantu of Bangladesh and Rajib Kumar
Biswas of India, unfolds a pivotal chapter in
history – the 1971 Liberation War.
The movie, which commenced shooting on December 29 at BFDC, stars renowned actor
Omar Sani in the role of Major General Onkar
Singh from the Indian Armed Forces.
Omar Sani recently shared a sneak peek of his character on social media, expressing his gratitude for portraying such a significant historical figure. ‘Operation Jackpot’ focuses on a monumental event of the 1971 Liberation War, showcasing the life and contributions of Major General Onkar Singh, one of India’s
most influential officers.
The cast includes a stellar lineup of talents such as Ananta Jalil, Amit Hasan, Jiaul Roshan, Mamnun Hasan Emon, Nirob Hossain, Joy Chowdhury, Sanju John, Shipon Mitra, and Aman Reza, all of whom play crucial roles as naval personnel involved in the
highly successful guerrilla operation within the naval sector during the historic Liberation War.
Scheduled to continue shooting until March, ‘Operation Jackpot’ is set to explore diverse locations in Bangladesh, India, and France. The film boasts a star-studded ensemble, including Ahmed Sharif, Iias Kanchan, Misha Sawdagor, Nipun Akhtar, Danny Sidak, Khorshed Alam Khasru, and Kazi Hayat, each portraying various roles integral to the storyline.
