Dhaka, Abu Dhabi discuss jobs, investment and infrastructure

UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Abdulla AlHmoudi meets Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat on Monday.

United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Alhmoudi met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday, with the two sides discussing ways to expand trade and investment between the two countries.

The meeting was held at the Secretariat around noon, said Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu).

According to Hasan Shiplu, the discussions covered expanding bilateral trade and investment and increasing employment opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi workers.

The two sides also discussed strengthening cooperation in several sectors, including energy, infrastructure, aviation, information technology, railways and logistics, he said.

The meeting comes as Bangladesh seeks to broaden economic cooperation with the UAE, with investment, employment and infrastructure development featuring among the areas discussed.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Investment Bangladesh Authority Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun attended the meeting.

Senior officials from the UAE Embassy accompanied Ambassador Alhmoudi.
