Babita interested in returning to acting, but there is no story
Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
It was eight years ago the internationally famous
legendary actress Babita of Bangladesh was last seen
acting in a movie. Since then she was not seen acting
in any new movie.
Sometimes Babita travelled in the country, sometimes she spent time in the country, sometimes in Canada, sometimes in USA. She spends time with her only son Anik in Canada and with her brothers in USA.
When she returned to the country, she spent her time in her own house in Gulshan of the capital.
In the past eight years, many directors have told Babita stories and have planned to make movies about her. Again, it is not that Babita is not interested in the movie. She has a strong interest in acting in movies. But no one could approach the actress with the kind of story that would impress her greatly. That is why she has not acted in any new movie today.
While talking in this regard, Babita told this correspondent, “The kind of talented, noted story-tellers and directors who were there during my time – now I don’t see it anymore. No Zahir Raihan, No Khan Ataur Rahman, No Amzad Hossain, No Chashi Nazrul Islam and many others. We know very well that those whose names I have taken were very talented and geniuses. They were ahead of their time. No matter how much they knew, no matter how much they researched, they made movies with no quota labour. They used to bring up life stories in movies. If I speak for myself, I don’t see other movies like ‘Golapi Ekhon Train E’, ‘Sundori’, ‘Taka Ana Pai’, ‘Pitch Dhala Poth’, ‘Arunodoyer Agnisakkhi’ or ‘Anonto Prem’. So at this time, I don’t want to act in any story where I only act in name. I don’t want to lose my life’s achievements in acting, and if I never act in a movie, I won’t have any regrets. My best wishes for those who are still working with love for our film industry.”
Babita’s debut in cinema was as a child artiste in Zahir Raihan’s movie ‘Songsar’. She acted opposite ‘Nayok Raj’ Razzak as the heroine in the second movie, Zahir Raihan directed ‘Shesh Porjonto’. The movie was released on August 14, 1969.
As such, even after 54 years of her acting career as a heroine, Babita is soaking herself in the love of the audience.
