Three children drowned in Katiadi

At least three children died after drowning in a pond at separate places in KatiadiUpazila of Kishoreganj.

The accident took place in Masua Union and Darichariakona of the upazila from noon to before evening on Saturday.

The Officer in Charge (OC) in Katiadi SM Shahadat Hossain confirmed the incident. Police said that, the dead child Mohammad (4) is the son of Ismail Hossain of Munsipara village of Masua union of Katiyadiupazila.

On the other hand, Suman Mia’s daughter Halima (7) and Bachchu Mia’s daughter Mritti (8) died in Darichariakona area of the municipality.

The death has cast a shadow of mourning in all those areas.

According to the local police, on Sunday morning, the child Mohammad came out of the house to play in Masua area.

The family started searching after not seeing him for a long time.

At one stage of the search, the locals saw the child floating in the water of a pond near the house.

Later he was rescued and taken to a local private clinic where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
