Bhola doctor treats patients while on IV saline

A doctor who fell ill while on duty continued treating emergency patients at Bhola 250-Bed General Hospital late Friday night, even as he received IV saline through a cannula in his hand.

The incident occurred around midnight when the emergency department was crowded with patients waiting to receive treatment. At one point, patients were informed that Dr Irfan Mahmud, the physician on duty, had suddenly fallen ill.

Dr Irfan was admitted to the hospital and given an injection and IV saline. However, as the emergency department continued to receive a large number of patients, he returned to his chair with the cannula still in his hand and resumed treating them.

While saline was being administered into his body, the doctor continued providing treatment to critically ill patients. The unusual scene highlighted the pressure faced by doctors working at the hospital amid a shortage of medical staff.
