3 held with 4 thousand litres of stolen diesel

Three people have been arrested with 4000 liters of stolen diesel from Kathghar area under Patenga police station of the Port City. The arrestees are – Md Badsha (37), Md Abu Hanif (34) and Md Al-Amin (39).

RAB-7 senior assistant director Tapas Karmakar told media that last Saturday a temporary check post was set up in Kathghar area and the vehicle was searched based on a tip-off that smugglers were coming from Alankar area of the city towards Sea Beach with stolen diesel in trucks.

When a truck was signaled to stop, Md Badsha, Md Abu Hanif and Md tried to escape.

Al-Amin was arrested 4000 litres of illegally collected stolen diesel was seized from the truck in their custody which is approximately Tk4 lakh 50 thousand.

He also said that the arrested persons have been illegally collecting octane and diesel from various ships, fuel lorries, etc. for a long time and then selling them wholesale and retail at relatively low prices.
