No seditious speech allowed in rally: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruk said that no seditious speech can be given in political gatherings in Dhaka.
He said this in a press conference at the DMP Media Center on the on Thursday afternoon to highlight the overall issues related to the programs of the two major parties.
On Friday on the same day in capital, the three organizations of Awami League, including Jubo League, Swachhasebak League and Chhatra League will hold a peace rally as well as opposite party BNP will hold general rally.

Addressing the political parties around the rally, the DMP Commissioner said that the microphone cannot be used outside the boundaries set by the parties for the rally. Parties

should have their own volunteers to avoid public nuisance. Referring to the allegations of police arresting the party’s leaders and activists around the BNP’s grand rally, he said that the police did not launch an operation against any political party or anyone of the political party. No such complaint. I will investigate if I get a complaint. Those who are being arrested are suspects or accused in regular cases, he added.

Meanwhile, home minister Asaduzzaman Khan has warned the law enforcement agencies will take action if anyone attempts to cause public sufferings and disrupt the peaceful environment.
He came up with the warning while speaking at a press briefing at the secretariat on Thursday. The briefing was called to mark the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
