Three members of a Bangladeshi family have been hacked to death in their home in Rome, Italy. Kamal Uddin, who was killed along with his wife and child, was from Companiganj, Noakhali.
Mourning is currently underway at his home. His son, who survived with injuries, has identified the attacker. Italian police are investigating and conducting operations to arrest the killer.
Three members of a Bangladeshi family were hacked to death in the Casalotti area of Rome, Italy, on Via Montiglio.
Among the dead are the head of the household, Kamal Uddin (39), his wife Arzu (38), and their six-year-old daughter Arsoya. In the same incident, their son Amir Hossain Oyon (18) was seriously injured. This information was learned from a report by Italy’s national daily La Repubblica.
The incident occurred earlier, on Friday, June 26, at around 9 PM Italian time, in a residential flat on Via Montiglio street in the Aurelio area in western Rome.
The couple’s 18-year-old son, Anian, survived this horrific violence. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Doctors have said that although injured, he is currently out of danger.
A police investigation team is conducting operations to arrest the killer. Immediately after the incident, police and forensic teams cordoned off the Via Montiglio area in Casalotti and began collecting evidence. Doctors stated that all three died at the scene.
Investigators’ initial assumption is that the killer was previously known to the family and is probably Bangladeshi. The location was Kamal’s own home. Since there were no signs of the door being broken to force entry, police believe that because it was someone familiar, the victims themselves opened the door for him.
Anian, who is being treated in hospital, told police that he recognized the accused. The two of them worked at the same supermarket chain. According to eyewitnesses, the accused, who was wearing a blue shirt, was seen walking away from the area after the incident.
Rome police have said that the search is being conducted with the highest priority to bring the killer to justice quickly. The detailed statement given by the survivor, Anian, will play a key role in identifying and arresting the killer.
According to Italian media outlets, neighbors heard screaming from the flat on Friday night and informed the police. Police arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of three people in a bloodied condition. After the initial post-mortem examination, investigating officers stated that they were killed by repeated blows with a sharp weapon.
Deep panic and grief have spread among local residents of the Casalotti area over this incident. Many of the expatriates who gathered at the scene were shocked by this brutal killing.
Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, a crowd of relatives and neighbors was seen at the village home of the deceased Kamal in Companiganj upazila. Relatives are coming from far and wide to see the grieving family.
Kamal’s father, Sirajul Islam, said: “A year ago, when my son came home, an anonymous letter threatening to kill him was delivered to our house. I informed the local police administration and everyone else about this. My son was an extremely good person. I want a proper investigation into this murder, and justice, with the death penalty for the guilty.
