Retired army man killed in Nilphamari crash

A retired member of the Bangladesh Army, AKM Jahangir Bosunia Russell (45), was killed in a road accident in Nilphamari on Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred on June 25 in the Dharaniganj area along the Nilphamari-Domar highway.

Russell’s wife, Sultana Begum (42), was injured in the accident and admitted to Nilphamari General Hospital for treatment.

According to local residents and police sources, the accident took place in the Kalitala area when the motorcycle carrying the couple collided head-on with a passenger bus traveling from Nilphamari to Domar.

Jahangir Bosunia, who was riding the motorcycle, died on the spot, while his wife sustained serious injuries.

Following the collision, the passenger bus lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Domar Police Station, Md. Habibullah, said that the deceased was the son of Zakaria Bosunia of the Chilahati area under Bhogdaburi Union in Domar Upazila.

After completing the necessary legal procedures, the body was handed over to the victim’s family, the OC added.
