33.7 kg gunpowder recovered in C’nawabganj

Chapainawabganj Correspondent :
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have recovered 33.7 kilograms of gunpowder from the field of a bordering village in the district early Saturday.
On a tip-off, a team of the border guards conducted a sudden raid at Jahurpurtek field and seized the huge explosives. Lt Col Bazlul Haque, Commanding Officer of 9 BGB Battalion, said this in a press briefing at his office here on Saturday afternoon.
A BGB patrol party from Jahurpurtek BOP challenged a few suspicious looking people on the border and they fled leaving behind four packages. The 33.7 kg of gunpowder were found in the packages, said the BGB official.
“The gunpowder was brought from neighbouring country to make bombs and spread trouble during the ongoing hartal and blockade programmes,” said Bazlul Haque.
