Physics Olympiad at JnU

The fifth Dhaka divisional round Physics Olympiad programme was held on Jagannath University (JnU) central auditorium on Sunday.
Department of Physics of JnU and Bangladesh Physics Olympiad with the assistance of Dutch Bangla Bank Limited organised the programme.
JnU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the opening ceremony of the Olympiad about 8.30am at JnU precinct. JnU treasurer Prof Selim Bhuiyan was present as special guest.
The programme was presided by Prof Dr Dipika Rani Sarkar, Chairperson of Physics Department of JnU and conducted by Prof Dr Nur-e-Alam Abdullah, Member-secretary of the fifth Dhaka divisional round Physics Olympiad committee.
General Seratery of Bangladesh Physics Olympic Committee Jahangir Masud, Chairperson of the department of Physics of Dhaka University Prof Dr Arshad Momen, Prof Shamima Karim Chowdhury, and JnU Science Faculty Dean Prof Dr Ashraful Alam were also present JnU VC Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman stated, “To face the contemporary world out fitted with modern technology, the knowledge of physics is indispensable.” “A person who studies Physics can do anything that they wish to do”, he added. The divisional round began with an hour-long examination at JnU central auditorium about 9.00am. A total of 1,100 students from different institutions of Dhaka division satfor the examination.
Following the examination, a colourific procession brought out that paraded different main road at Old Dhaka and ended at JnU campus. Afterwards, a question and answer episode, result announcement, prize giving ceremony and a colourful cultural programme were held.
