Tribute album on Ayub Bachchu ‘Uttoradhikar’ postponed amid controversy
The tribute album ‘Uttoradhikar’ was an initiative to pay tribute to Bengali rock legend Ayub Bachchu by releasing 20 of his immortal songs.
However, a large section of listeners and Bachchu fans expressed dissatisfaction with the new arrangements and performances of the songs released in the album.
Out of respect for the fans’ sentiments and in face of intense criticism, the entire album’s activities have finally been suspended.
This memorial initiative officially began on August 16, the birth anniversary of Ayub Bachchu.
However, the anger started as soon as the first four songs were released on digital platforms. The fans’ main objection was that the original melody and mood were distorted.
An emergency meeting was held with all the stakeholders related to the project in Dhanmondi, on Sunday evening to review the emerging situation.
After a long discussion, it was decided to remove the four published songs from the online.
At the same time, it was announced that the work on remaining 16 unpublished songs would be suspended for the time being.
