Mushfiq moves up in ICC Test rankings
Bangladesh cricketers experienced mixed results in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday, with veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim climbing one place while Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto dropped a position.
Mushfiqur has moved up to 16th in the Test batting rankings, improving one place from his previous position. Shanto, meanwhile, has slipped one spot to 21st. Another Bangladesh batter, Litton Das, has retained his 34th position.
In the Test bowling rankings, Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam slipped two places to 15th, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz stayed at 23rd.
England’s Harry Brook retained the top spot among Test batters, with Australia’s Steve Smith moving up to second and England’s Joe Root dropping to third.
Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis climbed two places to enter the top 10 at No. 10 after scoring a half-century in the second Test against India.
Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel made a significant jump, rising 15 places to 18th, while Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha climbed 29 places to 25th. India’s Devdutt Padikkal moved up five places to 54th.
Australia’s Mitchell Starc continued to lead the Test bowling rankings. England’s Ollie Robinson was among the biggest gainers, moving up six places to fifth following an impressive performance against Pakistan.
