A record breaking unbeaten 100 by Mushfiqur Rahim went in vain as the second One Day International (ODI) match between Bangladesh and Ireland had no result as rain interrupted the match after Bangladesh’s innings and the match was washed out at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Mushfiqur Rahim hit 14 fours and two sixes in his 60-ball innings. It is the fastest ODI century for a Bangladesh batter. Mushfiqur Rahim also crossed the 7000-run landmark in this match. He was the third Bangladesh batter, who scored above 7000 runs in ODI cricket. Earlier, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan achieved this feat for Bangladesh.
Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto built a worthy partnership scoring together 101 runs for the second wicket partnership before Litton was caught at the midwicket by Andy McBrine off Curtis Campher when the hosts’ total was 143 for the loss of two wickets.
Litton hit a marvelous 70. His 71-ball innings was ornamented with three sixes and three fours. Litton reached his eighth ODI fifty-run landmark playing 54 deliveries hitting three sixes and two fours.
Shanto hit a polished 73. His 77-ball knock saw three fours and two sixes.
After Shanto’s departure, Towhid Hridoy and Mushfiqur Rahim added together 128 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Hridoy was caught behind by Lorcan Tucker off Mark Adair when the home side’s score was 318 for the loss of five wickets.
Hridoy hit a sparkle 49. His 34-ball knock had four fours and a sixer.
Hume captured three wickets in the space of 58 runs.
