Chattogram City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the Vitamin A Plus Campaign at City Corporation Health Center at Bondel Road under Andarkilla Ward on Saturday .
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) distributed Vitamin ‘A’ capsules to 1.55 lakh children of 6 months to 59 months of age at 418 wards in the city.
On the other hand , Civil Surgeon’s office is distributing Vitamin ‘A’ capsules to 7,58,242 children in 14 upazillas.
About 5000 volunteers health assistant was engaged for administering Vitamin “A” Plus Capsule in 1288 Centres.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Azizur Rahman Siddiqui said that Vitamin A ‘capsule campaign has started in spontaneous environment. “Our volunteers are trying to make any children not deprived of feeding capsules.” he added .
Between 6 and 11 months children will get blue vitamins ‘A’ capsules (1 Lakh units). Children aged from 12 to 59 will get red (2 lakh units) capsules If the red capsule ends, two blue capsules will be fed.
He said that more than 20 mobile teams will be fed vitamin A capsules to floating children at the bus station, railway station, launch ghat, city gate, Shah Amanat bridge, Kalurghat bridge, oxygen Area at the city.
Councilor of Andorkilla Ward Johorlal Hazari presided over the inaugural ceremony.
President of Education and Health Committee Nazmul Haque Duke was present on the occasion as special guest. Chief Health Officer of City Corporation Dr Salim Akter Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
Khagrachhari Correspondent adds : National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus campaign was launched in Khagrachhari Hill District by feeding all kids aged between six and 59 months with Vitamin ‘A’ capsules.
Chairman of the Taskforce on Rehabilitation of Returnee Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Kujendra Lal Tripura MP inaugurated the National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign in Kamalchhari Headman Para Community Clinic of District Sadar on Saturday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Idris Miah, Assistant Secretary of Health Ministry Abdul Mannan, Khagrachhari Additional Superintendent of Police MM Salahuddin, Khagrachhari municipality Mayor Rafiqul Alam and Sadar upazila council chairman Shane Alam were present among others at that time.
The campaign started from around 8am on Saturday and lasted until 4pm in the afternoon. Now, a total of 12 thousand 7 hundred and 63 children 6-11 months of age are fed blue-colored capsules and 87 thousand 1 hundred 79 children aged 12-59 are fed a red colored capsule at 1010 centers in Khagrachhari district.
“Besides, children of the remote hilly areas should not be excluded from this campaign, that’s why the National Vitamin ‘A’ plus capsules will be fed through the mobile centre for next four days”, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Idris Mia said.
