Father dies after burn injury
The father, who was set ablaze by his devil son in Kamlapur area of Faridpur district town, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday morning.
The son identified as Fardin Huda committed the crime as his father refused to buy a new motor bike for him.
The deceased has been identified as ATM Rafiqul Huda, 48, from Faridpur district, said Partha Shankar Paul, resident surgeon of the Burn Unit of DMCH.
Ill-fatted Rafiqul received 90 percent burn injuries and died at the burn unit of DMCH around 5:00am, the doctor said. Quoting the family members, Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nazim Uddin said, “The-17-year old Fardin Huda alias Mugdho demanded a new motorcycle from his father on September15. When Rafiqul refused to buy the motorcycle, Mugdho locked an altercation with him. At one stage, he set fire to them by pouring petrol, leaving Rafiqul and his mother Silvia Akter critically burnt.”
“Local people brought the couple to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital instantly. The mother took primary treatment there. But when Rafiqul Huda’s condition deteriorated, he was shifted to DMCH. He died at about 4:00am,” the police official said.
The accused person is the couple’s only son and the police will file a case accusing the lone assailant, the OC said.
Mugdho is currently on the run and police are trying to arrest him, he said.
