Sk Jamal to face Arambagh in opener today

Defending champion Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will play the JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football opening match against Arambagh Krira Shanga at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong today (Sunday).
The opening match of the 12-team prestigious league will begin at 4.30 pm. State run television BTV and a privet owned satellite channel Boishakhi TV will telecast both the match live.
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin is expected to inaugurate the match as the chief guest.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will play against Uttar Baridhara Club at 7.30 pm in another opening day’s match at the same venue.
Ticket price for gallery was fixed at Tk 60 for each one while VIP and Pavilion will be kept reserved for guests.
Four teams — Sheikh Jamal DC, Arambagh KS, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Mohammedan SC and Mohammedan SC — arrived in the port city on Friday.
After arriving in the port city , Sheikh Jamal DC had a practice session at Government Physical Education College Ground, Halishahar from 3pm to 4pm on Saturday while Arambagh KS were due at Dampara Police Line Ground from 5pm to 6:30pm.
Mohammedan SC had their practices session at Chittagong Port Authority Stadium from 3pm to 4:30pm also on Saturday while Sheikh Russel KC at the same venue from 5pm to 6:30pm.
Ahead of the league, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Saturday announced 11 rounds’ fixture of the 12-team league comprising 132 matches.
In the first three-round, Chittagong venue will host 18 matches of the prestigious league from July 24 to August 3. Then, the league will move to Mymensingh, Dhaka, Sylhet and again Dhaka venue respectively for the remaining matches.
Apart from Chittagong venue, Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, Sylhet District Stadium and Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh will host the league matches.
Abahani Ltd Dhaka, Uttar Baridhara Club and Rahmatgonj MFS were due to reach in Chittagong on Saturday while Brothers Union Ltd, Soccer Club Feni, Team BJMC and Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra on Sunday (July 24).
