NU, UPEACE and Coders Trust to provide employment

National University (NU) has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations-initiated University for Peace (UPEACE) and US-based technology company CodersTrust to expand employment opportunities for students of its affiliated colleges and strengthen research activities.

The agreement was signed at the Trump Center in New York on Thursday local time, according to an NU press release issued on Friday.

NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah, UPEACE Dean Professor Mihir and CodersTrust Co-founder and Chairman Aziz Ahmad signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Under the MoU, the three institutions will jointly organise digital skills development, job-oriented training, peace education and professional development programmes for students and teachers through online, offline and blended learning.

The training will cover artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, web and software development, digital marketing, data management, freelancing and entrepreneurship.

The partnership will also focus on career counselling, workplace skills development, teacher training, certificate-based courses, joint research and international conferences.

NU will facilitate the implementation of the programmes through its extensive network of affiliated colleges. UPEACE will contribute academic expertise and curricula in peace education, conflict resolution, human rights and sustainable development.

The initiative is expected to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to quality education, decent work and economic growth, and peace, justice and strong institutions.
