BD raises jet fuel price

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of jet fuel for domestic flights by Tk 6.32 per litre, raising it to Tk 189.03.

The new rate replaces October’s price of Tk 182.71 per litre and took effect at midnight on Thursday.

For international flights operated by both domestic and foreign airlines, the commission has set the price at $1.1637 per litre.

According to BERC, the revised prices will remain in effect until further notice.

The new rates apply at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, Osmani International Airport in Sylhet and Cox’s Bazar Airport.

For domestic flights, the rates will also apply at Jashore Airport and any airports that open in the future.

BERC said the price adjustment reflects average global Jet A-1 fuel prices between October 5 and November 4, along with the US dollar exchange rate used to settle import letters of credit.

The regulator noted that domestic jet fuel prices include customs duty and value-added tax (VAT), while international rates are exempt from both.

Jet fuel prices have now increased for four consecutive months since August.
