Conspiracy on to destroy RMG

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman has expressed concern over continued unrest in the garment sector, warning that vested interests may be conspiring to undermine the country’s key export industry by instigating violence and disorder.
He called on the government to take a firm stance against those seeking to destabilise the sector, while urging factory owners, workers and other stakeholders to remain sincere and vigilant.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday morning, Shafiqur said, “Conspirators and opportunists appear to be trying to destroy the garment industry by fuelling the situation. The government must take a firm stance on this.”
He noted that unrest had persisted across the garment sector, with incidents of vandalism and arson reported at industrial establishments in different areas.
“Neither owners nor workers can establish their rights by destroying industrial establishments. We believe no worker would be involved in such acts,” he said.
Referring to around 600 factories that had already been declared closed, the Jamaat chief said the possibility of a deep-rooted conspiracy to jeopardise the future of the garment industry ahead of the winter season could not be ruled out.
He urged all concerned parties, including factory owners and workers, to exercise caution and remain vigilant to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
