Kishoreganj-Mohakhali bus route suspended indefinitely

The Kishoreganj District Road Transport Owners Association has announced an indefinite suspension of bus services on the Kishoreganj-Mohakhali route in Dhaka amid a dispute between transport owners.

Passengers have been facing severe hardship since the services were suspended on Sunday morning.

Thousands of people are struggling to travel to Dhaka for work, education and other urgent needs due to the sudden suspension.

Four bus operators Ananya Super, Ananya Classic, Jalsiri Paribahan and Ujan-Bhat-mainly provide passenger services from the Gaital Inter-District Bus Terminal in Kishoreganj town to Dhaka via the Mohakhali route.

According to people concerned, transport owners in Kishoreganj recently withdrew their old buses and introduced new ones.

However, bus owners in Dhaka did not agree to replace their old vehicles. Amid the dispute, the Kishoreganj District Road Transport Owners Association suspended all bus services on the Mohakhali route.

Ariful Islam, an employee of a private company in Dhaka, said, “I came to the bus terminal to return to my workplace in Dhaka after the Puja holidays.
