BD envoy to UK says commission’s website secure
The Bangladesh High Commission to London has said its official website is secure and that it has no direct control over visa-related servers managed centrally by the relevant authorities in Bangladesh.
In a press release issued on Saturday, October 24, the mission dismissed social media reports about its operations as misleading and baseless, warning that misinformation could damage its reputation and create confusion among Bangladeshis living in the United Kingdom.
The High Commission said there was no reasonable basis for claims questioning the security or functionality of its official web portal.
It clarified that visa-related servers and associated technical systems are managed centrally by the relevant authorities in Bangladesh.
As a result, the mission has no direct control over, or authority to intervene in, their operation, maintenance or technical management.
The statement said the High Commission should not be held responsible for technical or operational problems involving the visa servers.
The mission added that it makes every effort to provide visa and other consular services promptly when applicants submit all required documents and information correctly.
Protecting the interests and welfare of Bangladeshis living in the UK and providing necessary consular services remain among its key priorities, the statement said.
The High Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong ties with the expatriate community, helping them with matters concerning their legitimate rights and interests, and upholding Bangladesh’s image abroad.
The mission urged people with questions, complaints or concerns about its operations not to rely solely on information circulating on social media.
Instead, it advised them to verify claims through the High Commission’s official communication channels or contact the mission directly.
The statement said greater awareness, responsible conduct and mutual cooperation would help counter misinformation and promote a more accurate understanding of the mission’s activities.
