AI, banking skills key to women’s business growth

Women entrepreneurs need stronger banking knowledge and digital skills to expand their businesses and make effective use of artificial intelligence (AI), speakers said at a programme in Paba, Rajshahi, on Monday.

They made the remarks at the inaugural ceremony of a two-day training programme and product exhibition titled “Bank Literacy and Training on the Use of AI in Business” at the Paba Upazila Parishad auditorium.

Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs Society (Grassroots) organised the programme with sponsorship from Eastern Bank PLC’s Women Banking initiative. The programme will end today October 13.

Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ibnul Abedin attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Anita Das Gupta, national coordinator of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs Society, chaired the event.

Himangshu Mitra, chief executive officer of the organisation, delivered the welcome speech. Md Alam Khan, manager of Eastern Bank PLC’s Rajshahi branch; Fatema Khatun, Paba Upazila Women Affairs Officer; and Roksana Parveen, former vice-president of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs Society, also spoke as special guests.

In his speech, UNO Ibnul Abedin said that acquiring banking knowledge and skills in using AI was essential for women entrepreneurs in today’s technology-dependent world.

With a proper understanding of banking services, entrepreneurs would be able to manage their financial transactions safely and systematically, he said.

He added that AI could create new opportunities for product promotion, customer demand analysis and business management.

Such training programmes would help women entrepreneurs expand their businesses, strengthen financial inclusion and improve their digital capabilities, Ibnul Abedin said.

He expressed hope that entrepreneurs would use the knowledge gained through the training to make their businesses more competitive.

The organisers said the two-day training would cover banking services, financial management, digital transactions, the use of AI in business, online marketing and modern business management strategies.
