Arrest warrant issued against Pori Moni

A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against actor Pori Moni and her costume designer, Junaid Bogdadi Jimmy, in a case filed over allegations of assault, vandalism and intimidation.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday after rejecting a defence petition seeking time and cancelling the accused’s bail.

Alamgir, a bench assistant of the court, confirmed the development. The court also set December 23 for recording witness statements.

The plaintiff, Nasir Uddin, appeared before the court on Wednesday and sought cancellation of the accused’s bail. No defence lawyer was present during the hearing.

On March 18, 2024, investigation officer Inspector Md Monir Hossain of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Dhaka district, submitted a report to the court, finding the allegations of assault and intimidation against Pori Moni and Jimmy, also known as Jim, to be true.

However, the investigation found no evidence against another accused, Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni.
On January 26, 2025, the court framed charges in the case and ordered the trial to begin.

Nasir Uddin filed the case on July 6, 2022, alleging that Pori Moni and her associates had assaulted him, vandalised property and threatened him at Savar Boat Club on June 9, 2021.

According to the case statement, the accused allegedly demanded a bottle of Blue Label whisky without payment. When Nasir refused, Pori Moni allegedly verbally abused him and threw a serving glass and her mobile phone at him, causing injuries to his head and chest.

The complaint also alleged that Pori Moni and her associates had assaulted Nasir and threatened to kill him. It further claimed that she threatened to harass him by filing false cases through police officers known to her.

Following the incident, Pori Moni filed a case with Savar Police Station against Nasir Uddin and another person, accusing them of attempted rape and attempted murder. The case is pending before Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9.
