A schoolteacher was killed and her husband was seriously injured when a truck hit their motorcycle in the Baikari Mollabari Mor area of Sadar upazila on Monday.

The deceased was Shamima Nasrin, an ICT teacher at Bharukhali Secondary School and wife of Abdul Majid.

Sub-Inspector Shariful Islam of Satkhira Sadar Police Station said Shamima was travelling to her school on a motorcycle with her husband, reports BSS.

When they attempted to turn left at the road near Mollabari Mor, their motorcycle collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

Shamima was thrown off the motorcycle and sustained severe head injuries. She died on the spot. Locals rescued her seriously injured husband and admitted him to a clinic in Satkhira.

Police seized the truck after its driver fled the scene.

Sub-Inspector Shariful Islam said further legal action would be taken in connection with the incident.
