N’ganj Zila Parishad donates Tk 24 lakh for puja

NARAYANGANJ: Narayanganj District Council Administrator Mamun Mahmud hands over a cheque to a representative of Durga Puja mandap at a programme in the city on Sunday.

The Narayanganj District Council (Zila Parishad) has donated Tk 24 lakh to 240 Durga Puja mandaps across the district, with each mandap receiving Tk 10,000.

District Council Administrator Mamun Mahmud handed over cheques to representatives of the mandaps at a programme on Sunday. The event was conducted by Ramananda Pal, executive officer of the District Council.

Among those present were Joy K Ray Chowdhury, vice-chairman of the central committee of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Front; Shankar Kumar De, president of the Narayanganj district unit of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad; and Shikhan Sarkar Shipon, its general secretary.

Others attending included Abh Kumar Roy, convener of the Narayanganj district unit of the Puja Udjapan Front; former Puja Udjapan Parishad president Shankar Saha; and Rishikesh Mondal, member secretary of the front’s Narayanganj metropolitan unit.
