SRB recovers crude bombs from ex-trade fair ground

Members of Special Response Battalion (SRB) recovered more than 20 crude bombs and petrol bombs from the former trade fair ground behind July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of the capital on Monday.

Following the recovery, the SRB cordoned off the area and tightened security. A bomb disposal unit was called in to defuse the explosives.

SRB-2 commander Additional DIG Naimul Hasan confirmed the matter to the media.
He said the SRB launched an operation at the former trade fair ground following a tip-off and recovered the explosives.

However how the recovered cocktails and petrol bombs were kept there could not be known immediately. The law and order maintaining force has not yet disclosed any information on the matter of who are involved with the stockpiling of these either.

Additional DIG Naimul Hasan informed that detailed information on this matter will be informed after finishing the recovery drive and the process of deactivating the explosives. Subsequent measures will be taken on the basis of investigation if anyone’s involvement is found in this incident.
