Artistes returning with concerts, solo albums
The era of cassettes and CDs has long ended. In this online era, one song is released on various audio platforms including YouTube.
However, artistes still miss that era of audio. Out of that nostalgia, several artistes of the country are bringing their solo albums to online platforms. Along with this, solo concerts of several artistes are being organised.
Solo albums
Ferdous Ara
After more than three decades, noted Nazrul Sangeet artiste Ferdous Ara is making a new album of modern songs. Initially, the album has been titled ‘Prem’.
It will have 10 songs. Work on several songs has already been completed. Not only the audio, there are also plans to make videos for each song in the album.
Those videos will be released one by one. In addition, the album will also be made available to the audience in audio form.
Kazi Shuvo, Torun Munshi, Lutfor Hasan
Kazi Shuvo’s last two solo albums were released in 2016 – ‘Mayar Agun’ and ‘Daga’. His new solo album is being released again after 10 years.
The album titled ‘Keu Bujhlo Na’ is being released on September 28 under the banner of Dhruba Music Station (DMS). It contains 9 songs, including a duet song sung by Badhon Sarker Puja with Kazi Shuvo.
Like Kazi Shuvo, composer and musician Tarun Munshi is also coming out with a solo album after 10 years.
The album titled ‘Nasib’ will have 7 songs. In it, there are stories about love, separation, nature, as well as human life, physiology and social thought.
The recording of all the songs has been completed recently. This too will be released under the banner of Dhruba Music Station.
Lutfor Hasan, the musician of ‘Ghuri Tumi Kar Akashe Uro’ fame, is also coming out with a solo album.
His last solo album was also released a decade ago. Lutfor himself has written the lyrics and music for each song in this untitled album. This is his eighth solo album. It contains 8 songs.
Shan Shaik
Composer and musician Shan Shaik is preparing an album with five new songs. The songs are written by Lutfor Hasan, Mahmud Murad, Walid Hasan, and Shanto Pothik.
He has already started working on this new solo album, the title of which has not been finalised.
Joy Shahriar
Musician Joy Shahriar’s fifth studio album is ‘Boka’. With this album, which consists of 8 songs, he has brought out a solo album after six years.
The first song of this album, ‘Tomake Bhulte Somoy Lagbe’, was released last year. So far, 3 songs have been released. The remaining songs will be released in phases soon.
Solo Concerts
Rafa
Raif Al Hasan has been spreading his fascination with singing, guitar and drums for two decades.
He is known to everyone as ‘Rafa’. Although he has played in several bands, he is best known as a member of bands ‘Aurthohin’ and ‘Cryptic Fate’.
A few years ago, he formed his own band called ‘Avoid Rafa’. This time, he is appearing in a solo concert for the first time.
The first solo concert, ‘Eto Boka Keno Tumi’, will be held at the capital’s Hotel Intercontinental on October 2.
In between songs, the artiste will talk about his various experiences in music. ‘Aurthohin’ will perform as a guest band with Rafa.
Bappa Mazumder
Although he regularly sings in concerts with his band, musician Bappa Mazumder has reduced his solo concerts. Bappa’s first solo concert was organised four years ago in 2022.
Then in 2024, to celebrate three decades of his musical career, a solo concert titled ‘Bappa Mazumder Odyssey’ was held at the KIB auditorium.
Last year, another solo concert of Bappa was held at Yamaha Music Lounge in Tejgaon.
After a year’s break, Bappa will sing his popular songs at the Krishibid Institution auditorium on October 9. The concert is titled ‘Moonlit Melodies’.
Others
Apart from this, Miftah enthralled the audience with a solo concert at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on September 25, and Nirjhar Chowdhury’s solo concert was held at the Alliance Française in Dhanmondi, the capital, Dhaka, recently.
