SBAC Bank elects Md Maksudur chairman of board
Professor Md Maksudur Rahman Sarker, FCMA, an independent director of SBAC Bank PLC and Chairman of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Dhaka, has been elected chairman of the bank’s board of directors.
The decision was made at the 215th meeting of the bank’s board of directors on Wednesday, according to a press release.
Professor Maksudur completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Master of Commerce degrees in Accounting at the University of Dhaka. He secured first position in the first class in both examinations and subsequently joined the university’s Department of Accounting and Information Systems as a lecturer.
He later obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of New Brunswick in Canada.
Professor Maksudur also completed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme under the Association for Investment Management and Research in the United States.
He earned his professional Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) qualification from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
He also pursued higher education in Canada and the United States with scholarships.
Earlier in his academic life, Professor Maksudur secured merit positions under the Cumilla Education Board at both the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate levels.
Professor Maksudur is an academic, researcher and accountant with expertise in the financial sector.
He has authored more than 35 articles published in academic and professional journals in Bangladesh and abroad.
His book, “Credit Management of Commercial Banks: A Comparative Study of Public and Private Sector Banks”, focuses on credit-management practices in public and private commercial banks.
Professor Maksudur has also participated in international financial seminars and conferences in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Japan, South Africa and China.
