3 killed in city incidents
A young man named Mehedi Hasan (25) was killed by miscreants in a stabbing incident in the Shah Ali police station area of Mirpur in the capital. Police have arrested one person on suspicion of involvement in this incident.
The incident occurred around 12:30 Monday night in front of Kacchi Bhai’s shop near Shah Ali Mazar. Later, Mehedi was admitted to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital in critical condition, where he died in the morning while undergoing treatment.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Atowar Rahman of Shah Ali police station said, “At midnight, a person was arrested with a knife and cleaver in front of Kacchi Bhai shop near Shah Ali Mazar.”
Separately, a young man named Sagar Khan Imran (40) was killed by indiscriminate firing by miscreants in the Dholpur Sardar Gali area of Jatrabari. Another person named Zakaria (32) was also shot and critically injured in this incident. He is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital.
The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Sunday in the Dholpur Sardar Gali area. Later, Imran and Zakaria were rescued in bullet-hit condition and taken to the emergency department of DMCH Hospital.
There, the doctor declared Imran dead at 12:07 AM. Inspector Md. Habibur Rahman, in-charge of DMCH Hospital police camp, quoting the doctor, said that the deceased Imran had been shot in the head. His body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
In another incident, a 28-year-old youth named Md. Saif Uddin (Sifat) died while undergoing treatment after being stabbed by rivals over a love-related matter in the Adarsha Para Boraitola area of Sabujbagh. The incident occurred around 3:15 PM on Sunday.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital in critical condition, where the on-duty doctor at the emergency department admitted him to the One Stop Emergency Centre (OSEC).
Later, he died around 6:15 PM in the evening while undergoing treatment.
Sifat’s friend Hasan, who brought him to the hospital, said, “Over a love-related matter involving a girl named Sneha (pseudonym), 2-3 people including Joy indiscriminately stabbed Sifat following an argument.” Inspector Md. Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital, confirmed the death quoting the doctor.
