‘The Difficult Bride’ team leaves for Venice Film Fest

The Venice Film Festival began in 1932. The 83rd edition of this one of the oldest festivals in the world was opened with Oscar and BAFTA-winning director Danny Boyle’s ‘Inc,’ starring Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, and Claire Foy.

A total of 21 films are competing for the Golden Lion award this year.

Other notable films in the competition section include Martin McDonagh’s ‘Wild Horse Nine,’ Werner Herzog’s ‘Bucking Fastard’, Florian Zeller’s ‘Bunker’, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s ‘Look Back’, and Lee Chang-dong’s ‘Possible Love’.

Actress and director Maggie Gyllenhaal is serving as the president of the jury board for the main competition.

The jury board also includes Tunisian Kawther Ben Hania, British director Daniel Bloomberg, Italian film theorist Francesco Cassetti, French filmmaker Xavier Giannoli, Iranian-born Afghan filmmaker Sharbanu Sadat and Hong Kong filmmaker Johnny To.

This year’s Venice Film Festival is special for Bangladesh. Rubaiyat Hossain’s ‘The Difficult Bride’ has been selected for the Orizzonti Competition section of the festival.

This is the first full-length film from Bangladesh to be selected for the Venice Film Festival.

The film is co-produced by Rubaiyat Hossain and France’s François d’Artemare, Germany’s Anna Cachco, Portugal’s Pedro Borges and Norway’s Ingard Lill Hutton.

‘The Difficult Bride’ movie will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 6.

At that time, the film’s actors Zainin Karim, Azmeri Haque Badhon, Rikita Nandini Shimu and Sunerah Binte Kamal will be present along with the director Rubaiyat Hossain.
