Man arrested for slapping policeman in Magura

After a day of developments surrounding the incident, police arrested Naimuzzaman Nayan, president of the Microbus Owners Association and former Sadar Thana Chhatra Dal president, for allegedly slapping a policeman in Magura on Saturday.

A video of the incident went viral on social media and was published by several media outlets.Magura Police Superintendent Molla Azad Hossain said a case had been filed with Sadar Police Station against three people, including police officer Md Imran Hossain, who was allegedly slapped by Naimuzzaman Nayan, president of the Bhayna Microbus Owners Association, during an altercation over a trivial matter on Friday afternoon. Nayan has been arrested in connection with the case.

Nayan has previously faced multiple cases, including those related to drugs, weapons and mugging.

Recently, he was accused of inciting a mob to rape a madrasa student in the PTI Para area and of extorting Tk 100,000.

The elder brother of Nayan, Jubo Dal leader Abbas Uddin, made a new claim, saying that following a misunderstanding with the police, the matter was settled at the police station on Friday night through the intervention of BNP leaders.

However, on Saturday afternoon, police allegedly called Nayan back to the police station, kept him there throughout the day, and filed a case in the evening to show that he had been detained.
