Sadia Ayman, Shafin Ahmed star in short film ‘Aro Kichukhon’

Sadia Ayman and Shafin Ahmed have come on board for significant roles in upcoming short film ‘Aro Kichukhon’.

The short film sets in a busy city, the film follows two strangers whose paths cross, leading to a few unexpected moments of connection.

Sadia Ayman plays the female lead, while Shafin Ahmed plays the male lead.

Having worked in advertising for years as a filmmaker, Shafin Ahmed found acting to be a different experience.

Directed by Rubayet Mahmud, the approximately 29-minute film will be released on G Series.

Director Rubayet said that Sadia’s role required subtle emotional expression. He praised the actor for portraying those emotions naturally.

The director also said that Shafin’s personality and screen presence suited the character.

The director decided to make the film after years of working primarily in advertising, where he felt there was limited scope to tell stories in his own way.

“I regularly work in advertising, but there is very little opportunity to tell stories in my own way. At one point, I felt that it was time to make a story of my own. That thought led to ‘Aro Kichukhon’,” he said.

The filmmaker said the story focuses on how relationships can create meaningful moments even in a busy urban environment.

Rubayet Mahmud also emphasized the importance of the screenplay, describing the project as an experiment with a structured screenplay. He said a weak screenplay can prevent even large-budget productions from connecting with audiences.

Rubayet previously directed the drama “Tobuo Bhalobashi” for “Closeup Kache Ashar Golpo” in 2018 and the series “Kabaddi” in 2023. He has also continued working in advertising.

Ripon Chowdhury handled cinematography, while Mazhar Rony edited the film and Chinmoy Roy worked on color grading. Jahid Nirob composed the background score and songs. “Aro Kichukhon” will be available on G Series.
