No mercy for party wrongdoers

BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned party leaders and workers not to engage in any form of unethical activity using the party’s name.

He said that after 5 August, Party Chairman Tarique Rahman has taken strict action against individuals who engaged in wrongdoing in the party’s name. Therefore, leaders and workers must engage in constructive work to strengthen the party.

Rizvi said that his primary responsibility would be to run the party in a disciplined and well-coordinated manner. He said he would work to ensure that organizational activities directed by the party chairman are carried out properly.

He made these remarks on Monday afternoon after paying tribute at the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at Zia Uddyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, in the capital. After taking charge as Acting Secretary General, he paid tribute at the graves of the two leaders along with party leaders and workers.

BNP’s Acting Secretary General said that BNP came to state power with the goodwill and support of the people and formed the government under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.

His announced programs have been undertaken with the aim of serving the public interest, human welfare, social protection, and infrastructural development. He said party leaders and workers must cooperate in properly implementing these programs and present the government’s initiatives to the public.

He said that if party leaders and workers remain engaged with the public, no one will get the opportunity to think unethically. Noting that accountability has been ensured in the implementation of every government program, Rizvi said that BNP will not undertake any work outside the public interest.

On the subject of BNP’s popularity, he said that Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia worked for public welfare. Their initiatives in women’s empowerment and the country’s financial development increased BNP’s popularity. Continuing in that tradition, he claimed, Tarique Rahman is implementing some new programs that have gained popularity among the public.

Rizvi said party leaders and workers will cooperate in implementing these programs and present them to the public, which will further increase BNP’s popularity.
